I started by sketching a rough idea of what I wanted the station to look like.

Once I had the module's sketched out, I assembled them and gave them the basic shape I wanted.
The module on the far right saw significant changes, as it made sense that this station would have an adjustable space dock

Once I had the parts assembled, I started to add more details to each module. Here is the sleeping module, with it's first pass and second pass of details before being textured.

For the habitation pod, I built a scafolding and plating around the outside, then I textured it. For all the airlocks I use a similar texture.

The progress of the solar panel was particularly straightforward. Substance Painter does lots of the heavy lifting here, I generate layers of various materials and masks to make a surface that looks like what you'd find on a solar panel.

This is the hydroponics module. Modelling all the windows was fairly interesting, as it was assymetrical, but it came together easy once I got into it.

For saturn itself, I used a set of generated textures, gradients, and color ramps to create a material that would scale with whatever quality I wanted. I used these textures to control opacity, colour, and reflectivity.

Finally I did the render, with both the planet and the station.

A little project I've been wanting to do for a bit and now that I have time I've decided to do.
Some hardsurface modelling and texturing also with a HDRI that I rendered of saturn.

An orbital station in the year 2061, the frontier of the system, these hyper-efficient stations are sent across the Sol system to begin construction of larger habitatable space stations. They are set up to recieve materials sent from around the system, the various modules that they can be built with enable a huge alterations.
